The Kingdom of God is at hand! That was the phrase Nicole Weidokal emphasized when she led her opening session at the Kairos gathering this past week. Her session on, “Becoming Kingdom Leaders” was built around work she completed as part of her Doctor of Ministry program at ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½. She reminded us that while we often focus on what we can do for God, we may need to give more attention to who we are becoming as followers of Jesus.
Over the next two days, the group of Kairos students, faculty, and alumni who gathered at , spent time worshiping, praying, reflecting, and learning together. This was the third Kairos gathering that Heartland Community Church has hosted. It was a wonderful time of community, formation, and enrichment. One student remarked, “This was an inspiring and engaging experience.” Another noted, “I am thankful for this community.”
Heartland Community Church has worked with Kairos for nearly 10 years. Several members of its staff and congregation have completed programs with Kairos while others have served on various Kairos mentor teams.
More recently, the church has started developing a college to serve local students by providing customized and relational educational journeys. Degrees will be offered through ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½. Students will journey alongside Kairos-appointed mentors within the church.
We are grateful for the way God continues to work in and through the relationship between Heartland and Kairos.
